We invite you to learn what the Academy is, how faculty contribute, and whether you can imagine creating a meaningful experience for students and families.
START HERE: WHAT IS THE ACADEMY?
A different kind of learning initiative for students and families.
The Good Hope Community Connections Academy is a customized, experiential Wellness and Family Capacity Building initiative. It connects schools, students, and families with practical knowledge, real-world experts, and meaningful experiences they can use in everyday life.
The Academy was created around a simple idea: people build wellness and capacity when they have opportunities to learn useful skills, practice them, and connect them to their own lives. That means we go beyond traditional health lessons, one-way presentations, and passive family workshops.
Depending on a school’s goals, an Academy experience may include agriculture, animal husbandry, food security, nutrition, physical and emotional wellness, family connection, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, career exploration, skilled trades, leadership, or practical life skills.
THE ACADEMY IS NOT
A traditional tutoring program, childcare program, speaker bureau, or collection of disconnected workshops.
THE ACADEMY IS
A coordinated network of experts and customized experiences designed to strengthen the whole child, the whole family, and the wider community.
HOW THE ACADEMY WORKS
From a school’s need to an experience families can actually use
Design
We select the right Academy pillar, faculty expertise, format, and hands-on activities for that need.
Experience
Students and families participate, practice, create, solve, explore, and learn directly from knowledgeable experts.
Extend
Whenever possible, participants leave with a skill, resource, activity, or strategy they can continue using at home.

WHAT WE MEAN BY FACULTY
You do not have to be a traditional teacher to have something valuable to teach.
Academy Faculty are professionals, practitioners, entrepreneurs, educators, skilled specialists, and community experts. This is not a speaker bureau. Faculty help participants experience, practice, create, solve, and leave with a useful new skill or understanding.

Program architect & coordinator
- Works with schools to identify needs and goals
- Develops the program structure and participant experience

FACULTY’S ROLE

You do not need to arrive with a finished curriculum. We learn what you know, what you can demonstrate, and what you want young people or families to understand—then help develop a structured Academy module.

WHAT JOINING THE NETWORK MEANS

Faculty network
Joining allows Good Hope to learn about your expertise and consider you when a school need, age group, schedule, funding source, and program design are a good match.
Assignments
Not every faculty member will participate in every school or program. Membership does not guarantee assignments, hours, or a minimum amount of work.
Compensation
When a specific paid engagement is available, the scope, schedule, responsibilities, and compensation arrangement will be established separately.
Readiness
Before an assignment, Good Hope will communicate any required background screening, fingerprinting, onboarding, documentation, confidentiality, or reporting steps.
